The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

Analytics

We use Umami, a cookieless, privacy-preserving analytics tool that records page views without identifying you or tracking you across sites. If Google Analytics is enabled on the site it loads only after you accept the banner; declining is remembered in your browser's local storage and nothing from Google loads.

Location

If you press "Use my location" the browser asks your permission and hands the page your coordinates. They stay in the page. To look up your sky, the page fetches one pre-computed 1° × 1° tile from this site; the request reveals only which degree square you are in, and this site keeps no access log. Nothing is sent to any third party and nothing is stored.

Affiliate links

Gear links go to retailers such as Amazon with an affiliate tag. The retailer sets its own cookies when you follow a link; we receive a small commission on qualifying purchases and no personal data.
